IT solutions providers with a background in the traditional networking space may consider offering payment processing solutions to clients in verticals and niches such as healthcare, automotive repair, and legal. But with data breaches frequently in the news over the past few years, a concern over liability if payment card data is compromised could be holding you back.

At Channel Transitions VAR/MSP Executive Conference, powered by Business Solutions, November 5 at the DoubleTree Orlando Airport, Chester Ritchie, senior VP at Worldpay, and Donte Kim, president of Nodus Technologies, discussed the benefits of providing payment processing solutions, and Business Solutions editor in chief Mike Monocello asked Ritchie whether the risk of cyberattacks and data breaches is a reason not to provide these solutions.

Ritchie discussed tools that are available to help protect merchants’ systems: tokenization, point-to-point encryption (P2PE), and EMV. He commented that most merchants don’t have these tools, and the market needs IT solutions providers to provide education and to help deploy these technologies.
