Peter Drucker famously points out that “Culture eats strategy for breakfast” but what most SMBs overlook is that culture can have a bigger impact on talent acquisition and retention than strategy, trajectory and even compensation.
Let’s explore that radical concept for a minute.
Culture vs Salary
We all want to pay our people the best – of course we do. But we’re also trying to grow our businesses and sometimes the cash flow isn’t there to do it all. That’s especially true when we’re just starting out in the MSP channel.
So how do you keep them if you’re not paying them what they’re worth? Because they can easily go down the street and find someone willing to pay them another $5 an hour. And they will, if you don’t give them a reason to stay.
