Xirrus Helps MSPs Provide Wi-Fi-as-a-Service

According to IHS, information and communication technology downtime costs North American organizations $700 billion per year. The latest enhancements to Xirrus CommandCenter enable MSPs to incrementally scale operations, monitor customers, and respond immediately to minimize network downtime.

The company has introduced an MSP cloud-managed Wi-Fi solution and enhancements to its CommandCenter solution. Created specifically for the MSP market, this interface provides an aggregated method to monitor thousands of customer locations, providing visibility and monitoring, problem identification, and operational triage. Additionally, new application programming interfaces (APIs) enable MSPs to more easily integrate their service platforms into a Xirrus Wi-Fi network.

MSPs can manage anywhere from dozens to thousands of customers at the same time. As they add new customers and activate new services, the overall operation becomes more complex to manage, yet customer expectations do not change. This new solution features a network operations view for individual Wi-Fi network status and automatic escalation with the ability to drill down into a network for added visibility and troubleshooting.

Sophos Introduces Phish Attack Simulator

Sophos recently launched Sophos Phish Threat, a phishing attack simulator and training solution that is fully integrated with the company’s cloud-based security management platform, Sophos Central. With centralized management and automated campaign analysis, Phish Threat is intended to reduce the time and resources required to affect real change in employee behavior when faced with sophisticated and rapidly evolving cybercrime techniques.

Phishing remains one of the most common attack vectors for hackers who exploit end-user behavior as the weakest link in a company’s cyber-defenses. Sophos Phish Threat automates the entire training process and provides visual analytics to identify vulnerable users.

IT managers can create authentic phishing simulation and training sessions and initiate course corrections for their employees. This helps end users better recognize what a phishing attack looks like and learn from their mistakes should they get lured into taking the bait. As attacks change with current events, changing seasons, and attacker methodologies, Sophos Phish Threat constantly updates its testing framework to reflect real-world threats.

Barracuda Introduces Cloud Firewalls For MSPs

Barracuda Networks recently announced the introduction of two new versions of Barracuda NextGen Firewall — Intronis MSP Edition. The virtual version of Barracuda NextGen Firewall — Intronis MSP Edition provides MSPs with a turnkey solution designed to protect networks running in VMware, Citrix XenServer, KVM, and Hyper-V virtualized environments, while the public cloud options provide secure connectivity for Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform public cloud deployments. The virtual firewall solution is designed for customers looking to scale their virtual deployments faster and more dynamically, operate in environments that are 100 percent virtualized, or reduce their investment in dedicated hardware. Additionally, MSPs offering hosting services can leverage the virtual firewall to reduce their customers’ hardware footprint.

Optimizing the performance, security, and availability of today’s SMB networks through integrated WAN optimization, the virtual and public cloud versions of Barracuda NextGen Firewall — Intronis MSP Edition also feature a dedicated centralized management console. Similar to the physical version of Barracuda NextGen Firewall — Intronis MSP Edition, the virtual firewall can be controlled through a single control center that makes it easier to deploy common security policies across multiple units and multiple customers.

Intronis MSP Solutions’ fixed-fee pricing is intended to simplify budgeting and planning for MSPs, and as an added advantage, with the virtual firewall, MSPs can reduce the management associated with physical hardware, such as shipping costs, upgrades, and replacement.

SolarWinds MSP Grants Remote Access To Macs

SolarWinds MSP recently announced that users of its MSP Anywhere powered version of Take Control can now access Mac devices remotely. This latest release allows IT pros to provide full support to their Mac customers in the same way as Windows users.

MSP Anywhere allows IT service providers to remotely connect to machines to solve IT issues. It gives the ability to connect to a machine, open live chat with customers, transfer sessions to other technicians, ask questions in group chat, or silently transfer files in the background without disturbing customers.

This enhancement enables MSPs to provide Mac users full access to comprehensive features such as executive reports, LOGICcards, and use of real-time architecture to view actions related to checks in real time; deploy user-defined scripts in just a few minutes instead of waiting two check cycles to view results; and upload real-time results to the dashboard.

MOBOTIX Unveils MxActivitySensor 2.0

If your customers use motion detection in their video surveillance, this latest news from MOBOTIX will interest you. The security solution manufacturer has updated its MxActivitySensor capabilities. MxActivitySensor 2.0 is camera-integrated video analysis that differentiates moving objects based on size and position in the image.

Intelligent 3D motion detection ignores not only disturbances like rain, snow, shaking trees, or camera poles, but also reduces false alarms caused by straying animals, which would be triggers with conventional video motion. Thus, the camera keeps an eye on the essentials and only notifies during actual security-related events. All nonhemispheric MOBOTIX cameras will be equipped with MxActivitySensor 2.0 from 2017 onwards.
