Demystifying IT Compliance For MSPs
A conversation with Max Pruger, GM, Compliance Manager GRC

Max has been a pioneer in the managed services industry since the late 1990s. He currently serves as SVP and GM of Compliance Manager GRC and is responsible for Kaseya’s go-to-market strategy for his business unit. Max recently took a break from his never-ending mission of helping MSPs improve the IT security posture of their clients while increasing recurring revenue to answer some of our questions.
Q. IT Compliance is something that seems to be a pretty hot topic these days, but a lot of MSPs are confused about cybersecurity and compliance, and don’t know how to sell it. What do you tell them?
Pruger: Very simply, cybersecurity is anything you do to protect data. It's really that simple. Protecting data against loss, theft from hackers and insiders, and unauthorized access. IT Compliance is simply meeting outside obligations through documentation. IT Departments, and MSPs who are functioning as the de facto IT department for their clients, should be operating off of well-documented and up-to-date policies and procedures manuals that define all the requirements that need to be met.
